What is the International driver license?

The International Driver's Document (IDD) is a translation of your current valid driver's license in 9 languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, German, Arabic, Japanese and Chinese. It is accompanied by a non-governmental ID card, translated in English. Based on the United Nations Road Traffic Agreement of 1949, the IDD enables you to drive, as a tourist, in the countries that participate in the agreement, for up to twelve months. The IDD is not to be confused with the "International Driver's Permit" issued by the local automotive associations, which does not include the ID card.

What do I need to apply?

1- Photocopy of current valid driver license
2- Applicant's photo in color with blank background (it can't be the same photo used in your current driving permit)
3- Application form, filled out and signed.

What is the cost of shipping and what are the options?

For continental U.S. deliveries, excluding Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico and US territories, the U.S. Postal service is free (without tracking number). Federal Express costs USD 15 for express service in the U.S. and International deliveries, including Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico and US territories, via DHL and Federal Express cost $35 USD.

What are the benefits of having this document?

The International Driver Document is intended to overcome the difficulties you might have while driving a vehicle in another country that may have a different language than your own. The United Nations established an International Document to facilitate the travel of motorists in foreign countries where language barriers create difficulties for both motorists and the police. This document establishes the right for a person to drive in another country when accompanied by an original and valid driver's license. Another advantage is that no test is required because it is a translation of your original driver's license, printed in 9 languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, German, Arabic, Japanese and Chinese.

Can you ship the license to PO BOX addresses?

The free USPS option allows delivery to P.O. Boxes however Federal Express does not. Receive your IDD at the address that works for you!

Can the shipping estimate time vary?

Yes. According to certain restrictions imposed by customs in areas such as Africa, The Middle East and Asia.

Will my full name appear on my international license?

The name that will appear on your international license will be the exact full name that is shown on your national valid license. Our document is an accurate translation of your license in 9 languages.

Do Colombian licenses expire?

No. According to chapter number 2, paragraph number 22 from the Colombian national traffic regulations, the driver's licenses have indefinite validity.

Why does the date of birth not appear in the document?

The statute 877.18 of the Florida State law certifies that the date of birth cannot appear in a non-governmental document without a previous legal authorization and in the presence of the customer with his driver license. Since we mainly provide this document on the Internet, we cannot meet these requirements. Therefore, our company is forced to issue it without the date of birth.

For how long is the IDD valid in Spain?

Local regulations state that the IDD is valid up to 6 months in Spain, contrary to the 12 month limit in other countries.

What happens if a USPS package is lost?

IDL Services relinquishes all responsibilities for delays, lost, stolen or damaged documents of USPS deliveries. We highly recommend FEDEX for more thorough and effective service.

What is the shipping cost for Puerto Rico and US territories?

Deliveries in ALASKA, HAWAII, PUERTO RICO, US VIRGIN ISLANDS and GUAM cost $35.00 via Federal Express or DHL.

Are there any exceptions regarding the acceptance of the IDD in countries that signed the UN agreement?

In China, the IDD is accepted in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan only and is not recognized on mainland China and in Japan you should have the document endorsement by the police upon arrival.
